Weeksville Heritage Center is an urban project by the award-winning firm Caples Jefferson Architects PC. It consists of a two-story, 23,000-square-foot new building and 41,000-square-f00t interpretive landscape, which recreates farmland and serves as a gateway connecting the present to the past, including four 1800s houses on site – remnants of the 19th century free African-American community of Weeksville. The project, created with Vectorworks Architect software, was recently chosen as among the 17 best in American architecture by ARCHITECT magazine in its 2013 Annual Design Review.
