We’ve had a lot to celebrate this year, including our 30-year anniversary, the inaugural Vectorworks Design Summit, and the opening of our Atlanta office. But 2015 isn’t over yet, and we have two more things to celebrate: today's release of Vectorworks 2016 software and the announcement of our rebrand as Vectorworks, Inc.

As part of our efforts to help designers increase productivity through Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows, we are excited to announce a new partnership with Datacubist Oy, the creators of simplebim, Now, designers who use Vectorworks Architect can export their IFC-STP files and import them into the simplebim application to trim unnecessary data, as well as validate, edit, and add non-geometric data directly within the IFC file. Simplebim is a BIM software platform that enhances IFC data exchange between AECO professionals.
After five years of construction, the newly renovated Toni-Areal officially opened its doors last month. The site of the former milk processing facility is now home to the Zürich University of the Arts and the Zürich University of Applied Sciences. The Toni-Areal is one of the largest construction projects ever undertaken in Zürich and is considered one of the largest sites in Switzerland.

Computers Unlimited, the Vectorworks software distributor in the United Kingdom, recently sponsored the publication of a new book that dispels the misconception that BIM is appropriate only for larger practices. Written by architect and author Robert Klaschka, BIM in Small Practices: Illustrated Case Studies features 10 BIM projects designed by small architectural firms. One of those case studies focuses on industry expert Jonathan Reeves, who has been a loyal Vectorworks user since 1991.

Days are never dull for RIBA Chartered Architect Jonathan Reeves, whose firm, Jonathan Reeves Architecture, offers a mix of architecture, 3D modeling and visualization, and training services. He devotes much of that instructional time to teaching architects how to optimize their work and adopt Building Informational Modeling (BIM) workflows with Vectorworks software, which he also sells.

To celebrate Architecture Month in October, also known as Archtober, the AIA Orlando hosted BIM BAM BOOM!, a charrette style “shoot-out” aimed at showcasing the advantages of Building Information Modeling (BIM). Three teams participated in the event, including Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc., which was represented by Architectural Industry Specialists Wes Gardner, Assoc. AIA, and Luis Ruiz, and Lead Trainer Don Ward. Teams from Revit and ArchiCAD also participated.
Nemetschek Vectorworks' BIM Camp events took the U.S. by storm beginning in 2012, providing attendees with the knowledge to effectively transition to a Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflow. Since then, BIM Camps have traveled to Japan, Switzerland, and the Benelux region.
Our VP of Integrated Practice, Robert Anderson, was invited to speak at the BuildingSMART conference in Germany, an event focused on BIM, Building Information Modeling. Robert spoke about recent interoperability (IFC) activities involving Vectorworks, including BIMstorm, the Stockholm interchange event of September 2008, AECOO, and various GSA initiatives. He also, "exhorted the assembled company" (his words) to make IFC a better standard for product data and, of course, plug Vectorworks as a BIM platform. Go Robert!
