As part of our commitment to supporting young talent, Vectorworks and our Swiss distributor ComputerWorks AG sponsor the Foundation Award program in Switzerland. We are proud to announce that JOM Architects in Zurich, Switzerland has won this year’s award that supports young Swiss architecture firms. The firm is led by three agency partners, each with different backgrounds and focuses, who combine their design philosophies to demonstrate the productive potential of heterogeneous mindsets.

Just like a young adult may struggle to find his or her place in the world, an architectural firm’s early years can be filled with anxiety and challenges. To succeed requires an impressive level of determination and skill, and it's precisely this success that The Foundation Award honors.

Some architectural awards recognize a single building, while others distinguish designers for their work in a specific area, such as the use of natural light, skylights, façades, or even using architecture as a marketing tool. However, as award juror Juho Nyberg points out, for younger architects looking to make their mark in the industry, the work they do to support themselves early on in their career might not be reflective of their true talents because their work isn’t always built.

The Foundation Award,
Big BIM, or the greater collaboration among multiple disciplines involved in planning an architectural project via a building information model, was a featured topic at “People, Processes and Technologies in Construction Management.” This two-day event was presented by buildingSMART Switzerland in Zurich earlier this month in cooperation with Swiss universities, software providers, and Swiss Vectorworks distributor ComputerWorks AG.
Several Vectorworks users are among the 2012 best architects 13 Award winners, including two Swiss firms that earned top honors as Gold Award winners. This prestigious program, now in its seventh year, honors the best and most interesting projects on the architectural scene in German-speaking countries.

Just what I was going to say, but I've only listened to the first set of the Pimsleur German-language training CDs, so I might stumble with my German. I'll let the pros say it better; from MacGadget:
