The Oder, a river that runs through Opole, Poland, is a significant part of the city, and a segment that residents wish to incorporate more deeply into the surrounding architecture. The quick development of modern design technology, such as Vectorworks software, has helped this vision stay afloat during a recent Polish architectural contest, “BARGEWORK Opole,” in which the participants faced the challenge of designing the first Polish on-water office building.

Our distributor in the Benelux region, Design Express, held Vectorworks User Days in Antwerp, Belgium on March 18 and in Utrecht, the Netherlands on March 20. Nearly 800 people attended workshops on topics including architecture and BIM, interior design, 2D presentation techniques, intuitive sketching in 3D, landscape and garden design, and more.
Construction of the 27,000-square-meter Spectrumcollege campus will soon begin in Beringen, Belgium, making it one of the largest schools ever to be built in Flanders. The project is led by Vectorworks software users Osar architects in collaboration with UTIL and SDKE.

Last week, Nemetschek Vectorworks' own Jeffrey Ouellette traveled to Amsterdam for the bi-annual meeting of buildingSMART International's Implementers Support Group (ISG). BuildingSMART supports the use of open international standards in the building and construction industries, and the ISG consists of vendors that support the use of IFC (Industry Foundation Class) software implementations.
