Since 1965, the Henry Hewes Design Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in design for theatre on Broadway, off-Broadway, and off-off-Broadway, celebrating the fields of scenic design, costume design, lighting design, and notable effects: a unique category that includes achievement in sound, music, video, and puppetry. For the infamous rock/metal band Nine Inch Nails, putting on a great show is more than just about the music. As front man Trent Reznor says in the video below about the tour, “My goal when we’re playing a 70 or 90 minute set is that it’s almost a film where it starts off one way and not only musically, but visually evolves into something that keeps your attention and frames the music in a way that makes it feel like a journey from one place to another.
