On Monday, July 19, several NNA employees volunteered to participate in the 14th annual Renewal & Remembrance beautification project at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. The event is sponsored by The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), an international association serving lawn care professionals, landscape management contractors, design/build/installation professionals, and interior plantscapers. Nearly 500 volunteers contributed more than US $250,000 in goods and services. To date, the event has donated more than US $2 million to the cemetery.
This year's event included a dedication ceremony with remarks by officials including David Snodgrass, president of PLANET's board of directors, and James Hagedorn, CEO of The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company. After the opening ceremony, volunteers from the green industry provided services such as mulching, planting, and aerating the soil of the cemetery grounds. One group of NNA volunteers worked to spread lime over the lawn, while a second group made the day a family event and participated in the children's program.
"We are so grateful to have PLANET members such as Nemetschek North America who are willing to contribute their time and talents to our Renewal & Remembrance project at Arlington National Cemetery," stated Sabeena Hickman, CEO of PLANET. "Through their work and the work of other participating companies, we are able to demonstrate the benefits of all that we do for the cemetery, the environment, and for the spirit of volunteerism."
