Design Express, our Vectorworks distributor in Benelux, and Tercera, a consulting agency of the Dutch government, joined forces for the development of an easy-to-use Geographic Information System (GIS) tool.
Recent laws have made it mandatory for municipalities in the Netherlands to make all of their urban planning documents available in a digital format. For a lot of professionals, this new regulation represents a real problem, as GIS software is typically expensive and hard to learn. As a result, even simple drafting work is outsourced to third parties which leads to higher costs.
But thanks to Tercera-Design, a joint development by Design Express and Tercera, professionals without any previous CAD- or GIS-experience can now draft their own plans--thus saving a lot of time and money. Sharing the drawings with other parties is easy, since Tercera-Design allows you to export the drawings to a GML-format which in turn can be viewed in Google Earth. And, Tercera-Design follows the Dutch WABO-rules and can be completed with an object-oriented text processor, fully compliant with the Dutch RO-standards.
If you'd like to learn more about Tercera-Design, please stop by booth 2.002 at the professional show "Dag van de Openbare Ruimte" in Houten (Netherlands), on October 13 and 14.
