Our Architecture Industry Specialist, Luis Ruiz, visited the Dominican Republic earlier this month to assist the team at CAEDRO (our distributor in the Caribbean) with their participation in the XIV National Encounter of Schools and Faculties of Architecture (ENEFA) at the Catholic and Technologic University of Cibao (UCATECI) in the city of La Vega Real. The event brought students and teachers together to participate in cultural activities, discussions of architecture themes, and an exhibition of student projects from all 13 schools of architecture in the Dominican Republic. The University of Puerto Rico was also invited to participate.
Luis assisted with the event by giving demonstrations, providing support, and responding to inquiries about Vectorworks as a design tool. "New users were amazed with the tools that Vectorworks 2011 has to offer," said Irina Angulo, CAEDRO's Global Manager.
Robert Anderson, Nemetschek Vectorworks' VP of Integrated Practice, also made a trip to the Domincan Republic this month, to speak about BIM at the first Parametric Technology Seminar held at the Iberoamerican University (UNIBE) in Santo Domingo. Other guest speakers included Mark Burry of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Mark Goulthorpe of MIT, Ashley Schaffer of Ohio University, and Javier Isado of the University of Puerto Rico. The seminar was attended by professionals and students from the entire Caribbean region.
"This event was very dynamic and interesting," said Irina. "Different themes were debated, related to the use of cutting-edge digital technologies and their application in design for architecture at the most advanced levels."
