Last week, members of the Vectorworks team traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana, for the 2011 American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Convention and Design Exposition.

Visitors to the Vectorworks booth not only had the opportunity to learn about Vectorworks Architect software, but could also hear presentations by guest speakers François Lévy, an architect, author, and university lecturer from Texas, and David Labarbera, AIA, LEED AP, an architect from Louisiana. Show participants could earn AIA learning units by attending presentations about openBIM by our own project architect, Jeffrey Ouellette, Assoc. AIA. Industry experts Wes Gardner and Luis Ruiz also spoke about BIM and interoperability.

Nemetschek Vectorworks raised money for the buildingSMART alliance at the show with a cash tornado booth. Participants had 20 seconds to collect as many dollars as possible. The company matched the amount collected and made a donation of $1,500 USD to buildingSMART.

The AIA National Convention was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our users and others in the industry. We even participated in the first-ever AIA tweetup! All in all, it was a great show, and we're already looking forward to next year!
