If you're imagining your dream home, we've got a unique concept for you to consider!

Vectorworks firm Lischer Partner Architekten has won the DETAIL Preis 2012 for its design of a family home in Vitznau, Switzerland.

The owners of the family home wanted to live in a wooden house. However, the pronounced slope prompted the architects to design a massive building whose "hard shell" of a concrete facade wraps and protects the "soft core" of a wooden house. The wooden structure is acting as a "house within a house."

The architects also created the wooden building from prefabricated box elements, then mounted the concrete facade as a single shell. The wooden case is made entirely of a solid larch wood panel. At the openings and indentations the timber is visible from the outside, and the massively framed fixed lights emphasize the views of the different landscapes of Lake Lucerne.

Congratulations to Lischer Partner Architekten for its creative accomplishment.
