Young Swiss architects are proving that Vectorworks software is the best tool for the job as all three winners of the Foundation Award 2013 use the program for their innovative design work. This prestigious, annual Swiss award program recognizes firms that demonstrate a high quality of architectural skill and were founded no more than four years ago.
First place went to Zürich-based Demuth Hagenmüller & Lamprecht Architekten, a firm that focuses on community development and advancement with an eye on social responsibility. Jurors characterized their work as young, confident, and authentic based on their assessment of the firm’s work on the Zentralstrasse housing project, a 340-unit residence, and the Lido Rapperswil swimming pool. Their first-place prize package included, among other things, an office profile on swiss-architects.com, and a Vectorworks Architect with Renderworks software package that includes training and a Vectorworks Service Select subscription.
Second place winner Huber Waser Mühlebach of Lucern received a prize of 4,000 Swiss francs for an office space it designed with a distinctive urban character called WBW Rhyboot Alstätten. The project’s open spaces are inviting to both workers and visitors.
Third place, and a prize of 3,000 Swiss francs, went to Lugano architect Thomas Schlichting for his design to restore the Scalinata degli Angiol, which is a long flight of stairs next to an old cable car that once connected two city parts. His design also includes converting an old tower in the middle of the stairs into a cafe.
Congratulations to these rising architectural stars!
