Nemetschek Vectorworks' BIM Camp events took the U.S. by storm beginning in 2012, providing attendees with the knowledge to effectively transition to a Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflow. Since then, BIM Camps have traveled to Japan, Switzerland, and the Benelux region.

Most recently, our German distributor, ComputerWorks, hosted its first Vectorworks BIM Camp in Stuttgart, Germany. The event took place in partnership with Freiraum, and more than 50 architects and designers attended, eager to learn how they can utilize BIM in their own practices.

Tina Kierzek takes time to answer questions from attendees.

The workshop began with the presentation "Open BIM and Vectorworks" by Andreas Thierer, director of sales & marketing at ComputerWorks Germany, who explained the benefits of using a BIM workflow when designing in Vectorworks software. Then, featured speaker Tina Kierzek discussed how to implement BIM workflows in large architectural projects, particularly new projects or those currently under construction. Kierzek is an accomplished architect who has worked as a project manager and CAD administrator with architecture firms such as Auer+Weber+Assoziierte GmbH.

Tina Kierzek presents a BIM project example: The Grandes Combes Courchevel.

After the presentations, participants were able to ask questions and discuss BIM topics with ComputerWorks’ industry experts. Attendees also received copies of the new German white paper “CAD Workflows in Architectural Offices."

ComputerWorks plans to organize more BIM Camps this year, so be sure to check out their website for upcoming event dates!
