Awards Ahead: Make this Year about You

Your hard work should be celebrated by more than your clients. Below we’ve rounded up some of the top awards to enter in 2019. Take a look to see where you can share your work or nominate the work of your peers.



Fast Company Magazine

For those who have designed a product or a service that was made public or came to the market between May 10, 2018 and May 10, 2019, enter Fast Company’s 2019 Innovation by Design Awards. You can submit your business to any of the 21 different categories, which renowned designers will then judge. Honorees will appear in the October issue of Fast Company Magazine and on their website, as well as receive a complimentary pass to Fast Company’s Innovation Festival where they will be celebrated. If your entry does not fit the time frame, some exceptions can be made.

Early Bird Deadline: March 22nd

Cost: $195 for early bird and $250 after; $40 for students



Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD)

The APLD dedicates itself to advancing the profession of landscape design and its volunteers are committed to its growth. The organization will recognize those who are committed to the industry by giving out four different awards this year.

The Award of Distinction:

This award honors a professional for making a distinguished contribution to landscape design, and the winner is presented at the APLD International Landscape Design Conference in July.

Deadline: March 31st

Harry Schuster Service Award:

Harry Shuster, the organization’s founding member, was known for his mentoring of designers and his energy of recruiting new members. Current APLD members in good standing who show enthusiasm and selfless efforts towards furthering the organization’s mission should apply for this award.

MISC: Nominations are only open to APLD members.  

Chapter Service Award:

Similar to the Schuster award, this recognizes a member’s work in any local chapter, specifically someone who is helping to advance the goals of their chapter.

Award for Leadership in Landscape Sustainability:

APLD will award this to those who have shown a commitment to the environment and demonstrated that their work has resulted in benefits to nature and the practice of landscape design.

MISC: Nominations are only open to APLD members

Landscape Design Award:

This award is given during the 2019 APLD International Design Conference in July and is based on the level of difficulty, craftsmanship, attention to detail, and execution in the recipient’s project.

Landscape Management

One of the leading landscape publications will be publishing their top names in the industry. Landscape Management’s 11th annual LM150 will showcase the most significant landscape companies ranked by company revenue. The list includes breakouts in regions and companies with double-digit growth and winners will appear in Landscape Management’s June 2019 issue.

American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA)

For the best in landscape architecture, the most prestigious juried competition of its kind awaits you. ASLA is an organization whose mission is to advance landscape architecture through communication, education, and fellowship. Each year, they recognize the profession’s future with the ASLA Student Award. The winner will be featured in Landscape Architecture Magazine and will be honored during the 2019 ASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture in November.

world architecture festival 2016

World Architecture Festival

This festival takes place in Amsterdam and attracts over 200 senior architects and clients from around the world, as well as press members from several media outlets. Submit your work to have the chance to win one or more of the 35 prizes and awards.

Early Bird Deadline: April 12th

Final Entry Deadline: May 3rd

Cost: 799 ($905.04) for early bird, 899 ($1,1018.32) for final entry

American Institute of Architects (AIA)

Looking to be recognized as one of the best in architecture in the U.S.? This year’s AIA award is the one for you. Headquartered in our nation’s capital, this institute has enjoyed over 160 years of success, growing to more than 94,000 members with more than 200 chapters around the world. This year, the 2019 Architecture program is honoring noteworthy architecture, regardless of budget, size, style, or type. To enter, you must be a US-licensed architect, although projects can be located anywhere around the world.

Live Design

For those who are looking to make a mark on some of the biggest stages around the world, keep an eye out for Live Design’s Excellence Awards, which will honor projects in the entertainment design and event production industries. Industry peers submit nominations, and the nomination timeframe will be announced this summer. Live Design then honors the recipients at their annual LDI event in Las Vegas, which takes place November 18-24, 2019.

Total Production International Magazine (TPi)

The TPi Magazine Awards recognizes the best in the live production industry. Award recipients are recognized at TPi Magazine’s event that attracts more than 1,400 people from all areas of live music and entertainment. The next round of submissions has not yet been released.

Deadline: Voting opens in October
