While the 2018 Vectorworks Design Summit is the ultimate training experience for you, we also want to give you the chance to train us! Your feedback is important to us, so stop by one of our many Ask the Engineers stations to pitch your ideas. We will listen.
The Vectorworks Cloud Services web portal was created in 2011, and its user interface and functions have never been significantly updated, until now. You asked, we listened, and now the Cloud Services web portal is better than ever. These upgrades can be enjoyed through the use of Vectorworks 2018, which launched last week. The main webpage and all its dialog boxes are re-implemented to address functional deficits, improve user experience, and add new features.

Since announcing that this year’s annual Build Earth Live competition would focus on designing a high-speed Hyperloop station connecting Dubai and Fujairah, the concept has gone from experimental to tangible. In the past, this 48-hour competition called for designers around the world to come together as teams and create innovative structures using BIM workflows and cloud technology, but these designs were never more than models. This year, Build Earth Live organizers Asite, supported by headline sponsor Vectorworks, have partnered with Dubai Future Foundation, Dubai's Road and Transport Authority, and Hyperloop One, a company developing the world's first Hyperloop, to potentially bring the winning design to life.
Our newly minted CEO, Dr. Biplab Sarkar, is less than a month into his tenure, and he’s already showing the design community some love by teasing exciting developments planned for Vectorworks software. Sarkar showcased upcoming advancements during his keynote speech at this year’s Vectorworks Design Summit in Chicago. The reveal was met by thunderous applause from 600-plus attendees from around the world, confirming that our future releases will make a resounding impact.

BIMobject, the free repository of manufacturer-specific BIM objects, is now home to Vectorworks symbols, allowing you to develop, communicate, analyze, and add value to your design process. This development arose out of a partnership between Vectorworks and BIMobject, one of Europe’s largest and fastest-growing digital content management systems, after the two companies joined forces in an effort to better meet the needs of the AEC industry.
We’re talking about tools for the designer on the move in this month’s Tech Roundup. Check out the following videos to explore how you can make the most of your software even when you’re not at your desk.
We may be just two months into the year, but Vectorworks has been no stranger to the media as a company, brand, or software. We started 2016 off on a high note in January with some terrific hits:

BIM Unlimited won the BEST USE OF BIM FOR SUSTAINABILITY OR CONSTRUCTABILITY award at the Build Earth Live event last week. This virtual, global design competition revolved around a site location in New York City. Like previous competitions such as Build London, Sydney, and Qatar, teams had just 48 hours to publish their proposals to Asite's Adoddle cloud-based collaboration platform.
