We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve brought home another major win from this year’s American Institute of Architecture (AIA) Convention, and not just because of all of the wonderful demos and conversations we had with the architects there. We’re talking about receiving our third consecutive “BEST of SHOW” award from Architosh. This year, Vectorworks Architect 2016 design software won the Desktop category.

We’re always pushing the boundaries of what design software can accomplish here at Vectorworks, but just like anyone else, we run the risk of getting caught up in our day-to-day responsibilities and losing sight of new possibilities. That’s why we have Innovation Weeks: times where we set aside our normal tasks to focus on new ideas and pursue unexpected solutions. In doing so, we’ve been able to bring you new tools like our integrated graphical scripting feature, Marionette, which started out as an idea pitched during an Innovation Week.
We are thrilled to see the Vectorworks name popping up more and more in the media these days. Between the 2016 Design Summit, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Convention 2016, and the Rock in Rio Festival, we’ve been busy connecting with our users and making headlines.

BIMobject, the free repository of manufacturer-specific BIM objects, is now home to Vectorworks symbols, allowing you to develop, communicate, analyze, and add value to your design process. This development arose out of a partnership between Vectorworks and BIMobject, one of Europe’s largest and fastest-growing digital content management systems, after the two companies joined forces in an effort to better meet the needs of the AEC industry.
There's never a dull moment here at Vectorworks. Dr. Biplab Sarkar, a Vectorworks employee for more than 16 years who has driven the development of our software as chief technology officer (CTO) for eight of those years, has been appointed to chief executive officer (CEO). In other company promotion news, Darick DeHart is now vice president of product management and Steve Johnson is now vice president of product development. The three executives will work closely together in their new roles to pursue future technology advancements for the Vectorworks software lines.
