There was no better place to delve into BIM than at last month's Monterey Design Conference. Hosted by the American Institute of Architects, California Council (AIACC), the event featured a presentation by Nemetschek Vectorworks’ David Dengler, Assoc. AIA about how to transition from a typical 2D CAD workflow to a data-rich, model-based workflow. He discussed tools, techniques, and technologies available, shared best practices for developing a collaborative workflow using IFC-based standards, and delivered case study examples of how several firms have transitioned from CAD to BIM with Vectorworks software.
