We’re all familiar with it — the scene of a performer coming out on stage, greeted by flashing lights, video cameras, and a sold-out arena of fans. However, what if that performer isn’t a musician or an actor, but a video gamer. For Remco Teunissen, bringing such an out of the ordinary event to life is part of his everyday workflow in his job of coordinating all of the drawings and set-up and take-down of these events.
The Vectorworks crew attended the Rock in Rio: Lisbon music festival last summer. Partnering with Production Resource Group (PRG) to provide Vision previsualization services to the designers lighting up the event’s five nights of performances, we also took time to document the construction of the fest’s stages, talk with the bands’ lighting designers, and see the power of Vectorworks Spotlight and Vision software in action.

Over its 30-year history, the Rock in Rio music festival has entertained thousands by bringing some of the biggest musical acts from across the globe to cities like Rio de Janeiro, Las Vegas, and this year’s location, Lisbon, Portugal. Our latest success story highlights how the event’s lighting designers took advantage of the Vision Studio, a previsualization suite set up by PRG where designers could program their shows before the artists hit the stage, ensuring days of seamless shows for the expectant crowds.
The days were warm, the nights were cool, and the shows were hot at Rock in Rio: Lisbon. Over our week in Portugal, we worked hard and played hard, taking every opportunity to interview the lighting designers working at the festival.

Global solutions provider Production Resource Group (PRG) stages events around the world, from music tours and corporate events to theme parks and retail stores. And now, thanks to our recent partnership with them, the company that’s on-site to help entertainment professionals execute on their designs is on-hand in your software, too. That’s right, we’re actively developing and implementing new tools and object libraries for PRG in Vectorworks Spotlight software.
While many of us were gearing up for the New Year, Germany and Austria experienced a tour like no other – if design is your thing, that is. Our Vectorworks distributor, ComputerWorks GmbH, tackled 20 cities with its "Inside Vectorworks 2016" tour, attracting nearly 1,500 attendees and seizing every chance to share our latest software release through group demos, one-on-one sessions, and workshops that touched upon everything from collaborative workflows and 3D planning in landscape architecture to Spotlight training by one of the program's biggest worldwide users PRG, as well as interesting case studies, and quick tips for architectural design success.
